Program For Investment In Micro-Entrepreneurs Technical Assistance

The Small Business Administration, otherwise termed as SBA, is the leading United States government agency that is greatly committed to delivering assistance to entrepreneurs and small business enterprises.

The SBA's efforts are led by their general agency mission, which is "to maintain and strengthen the nation's economy by enabling the establishment and viability of small businesses and by assisting in the economic recovery of communities after disasters."

In keeping with all its programs and goals, the Small Business Administration constituted the Program for Investment in Micro-Entrepreneurs(PRIME) Technical Assistance.

The Program for Investment in Micro-Entrepreneurs Technical Assistance Program was designed to lower the number of deprived micro-entrepreneurs by helping them enhance their management capabilities, through providing them with technical assistance and lessons in the areas with regards to activities that are associated with starting, expanding and growing their businesses.

The PRIME Technical Assistance Program also aims to give training and capacity building services to several low-income entrepreneurs in order to enable them to obtain access to more capital and help them expand their businesses.

The Small Business Administration is set to administer project grants with an estimated budget amounting to $50, 000 per single award and is planning to award multiple grants pending the availability of funds and resources.

Interested candidates of the PRIME Technical Assistance Program can visit the Grants.gov website or contact a local SBA office near them.

The organizations and institutions that are eligible to engage in the PRIME Technical Assistance program are the following:

a) A micro-enterprise program or organization that has continually demonstrated record of delivering micro-enterprise services to disadvantaged low-income micro-entrepreneurs

b) An intermediary, including private, nonprofit entities that serve micro-enterprise development organizations

c) A micro-enterprise development program or organization that is working with a state or local government or Indian tribe and is accountable to a local community,

d) Indian tribes that are functioning on their own, thereby having the ability to certify that no private organization or program exists within its jurisdiction.

The Small Business Administration, the main agency funding the Program for Investment in Micro-Entrepreneurs Technical Assistance, is the country's major agency that is generally accountable for maintaining and strengthening the economy by protecting, aiding, assisting and counseling the interests of small businesses.
